Disaster Care Advances IICRC Training Capabilities

Investing in IICRC Training and Professional Development

Disaster Care is continuing to invest in technical expertise and professional development, with three members of our team recently travelling to Las Vegas to attend the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) Train-the-Trainer programme.

Nick Lea, Stephen Sinacola and Mitchell Bramall attended the programme as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening technical training opportunities across the Disaster Care network and the wider restoration industry.

The visit marks another important milestone in our adoption of the IICRC certification pathway, supporting our ambition to develop a highly skilled network of restoration professionals equipped to deliver consistently high standards of service.

Developing Our Technical Training Capabilities

Held on the 5th and 6th October 2026 at the IICRC Global Resource Center in Las Vegas, the two-day Train-the-Trainer programme brought together cleaning, inspection and restoration professionals to develop their instructional capabilities.

The programme focused on effective communication, instructional design and classroom teaching techniques, providing participants with the skills needed to deliver engaging and effective technical education.

For Disaster Care, this represents an important step towards developing our own IICRC trainers, enabling us to build on the specialist knowledge and practical training already available through the National Flood School.

Strengthening the Disaster Care Academy

The programme forms part of our wider investment in the Disaster Care Academy, which provides a structured approach to professional development and technical excellence across our national network.

Through the Academy, we are establishing clear training and development pathways, combining practical experience, technical knowledge and recognised industry qualifications to support our Network Partners and their teams.

Developing IICRC training capabilities at the National Flood School will further strengthen this offering, creating opportunities for individuals to progress towards internationally recognised certifications.

This investment also supports our longer-term ambition for branches across the Disaster Care network to achieve IICRC Certified Firm status, reinforcing our commitment to quality, consistency and professional standards.

Importantly, the benefits extend beyond our own network. As we continue to develop our training provision, our ambition is to make specialist technical education and recognised certification opportunities more accessible to professionals across the wider restoration industry.

Investing in the Future of the Restoration Industry

Nick Lea, Technical Director at Disaster Care, commented:

“Attending the IICRC Train-the-Trainer programme was a valuable opportunity to strengthen our instructional skills and build on our existing technical expertise. It represents an important step towards expanding the specialist training we can deliver through the National Flood School, supporting both the Disaster Care Academy and professionals across the wider restoration industry.”

Our participation in the programme reflects Disaster Care’s commitment to raising industry standards through continued investment in people, knowledge and professional development.

By combining the practical training expertise of the National Flood School with the structured development opportunities offered through the Disaster Care Academy, we are working to create a stronger, more capable restoration workforce.

We look forward to sharing further updates as our team progresses towards becoming IICRC trainers and we continue to expand our technical training capabilities.
